mitsubishi chemical group is pleased to announce that pixie dust technologies’ “iwasemi rc-α” transparent acoustic panels feature mitsubishi chemical’s durabio™, a plant-derived bio-based engineering plastic. iwasemi rc-α will be launched in may 2023.
durabio™ is a bio-based engineering plastic made from isosorbide, a renewable plant-derived raw material. durabio™ helps reduce the consumption of petroleum, a limited non-renewable resource, and also helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions because the plants used as its raw material absorb carbon dioxide during their growth. durabio™ has excellent impact resistance, scratch resistance and transparency, and is widely used in automotive interior and exterior parts, optical and electronic equipment components, and daily necessities.
iwasemi rc-α is a novel transparent sound-absorbing panel that works like tiles taped to glass in conference rooms and workspaces. by using the excellent transparency
durabio™, iwasemi rc-α provides an excellent design sense “in harmony with glass” while using plant-derived materials.
as a specialty materials group committed to providing innovative solutions, mitsubishi chemical is committed to providing high value-added products such as durabio™ to promote the realization of a sustainable society.
