on october 5, invista announced its decision to cease production at its orange, texas, plant.
francis, president and ceo of invista murphy said: "we appreciate the hard work and innovation of our orange facility employees over the years. unfortunately, lower-than-expected growth and increased global supply have led to this difficult decision."
the plant will immediately begin the safe shutn of its adiponitrile (adn) production unit and is expected to cease hexamethylene diamine (hmd) production in mid-2024.
about 240 of the plant's 300 positions will be eliminated by the end of 2024. all affected employees will be eligible for severance pay. the company is committed to treating every employee with dignity and respect throughout the transition process.
invista's current and always-present priority is the safety of its employees, contractors and surrounding communities.
