on april 8, under the witness of huang ou, deputy secretary of the party committee and president of shanghai electric group, shanghai electric, sinopec shanghai petrochemical co., ltd. and chemical (china) investment co., ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “” chemistry”) signed a tripartite memorandum of understanding on strategic cooperation in shanghai. according to the agreement, the three parties will comprehensively promote cooperation in the field of carbon fiber for wind turbine blades.

at the signing ceremony, huang ou said that the strategic cooperation between the three parties is a positive practice for carbon peaking and carbon neutrality. constrained by wind resource conditions, wind power companies urgently need to increase the power generation capacity of wind farms. large-scale fan blades are the mainstream direction for the future development of the wind power industry. this requires carbon fiber composite materials with better performance and lower cost as a support.
the signing of this strategic cooperation memorandum of understanding has strengthened the connection of the industrial chain and the innovation chain, and laid a good foundation for the further cooperation of the three parties. it is believed that under the joint efforts of the three parties, new achievements, new breakthroughs and new developments will be achieved.

in 2018, shanghai electric and shanghai petrochemical co., ltd. started the research and development cooperation in the field of large-tow carbon fiber applications by jointly undertaking the shanghai science and technology commission’s “key technology research and system integration development of large wind power carbon fiber blades”.
at present, shanghai electric wind power group has completed the trial production of carbon fiber test samples using small batches of carbon fibers from shanghai petrochemical pilot test, and the samples are in the testing stage. through this cooperation signing, it will further follow up the new technology in the field of blades, and also strive for more options for future material supply.
