trinseo’s hsinchu and zhangjiagang factories can provide evidence of sustainable ingredient commitment trinseo’s mass balance process at its hsinchu and zhangjiagang plastic factories has recently received international
sustainability & carbon plus certification (iscc+).
the mass balance method tracks the bio-based raw materials used in the production of materials with sustainable advantages. at the hsinchu plant, the final material certified as having sustainable benefits is bio-based recycled polycarbonate
(pc), thermoplastic elastomer (tpe), acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (abs) and styrene-acrylonitrile (san). at the zhangjiagang abs plant, certified materials are bio-based
abs, bio-based recycled abs and recycled abs. certification as required by the agreement enables trinseo to provide customers with a sustainability statement to substantiate its commitment to sustainable ingredients.
where sustainable and non-sustainable materials are mixed in the production process, iscc+
the mass balance method has become the accepted standard for tracking inputs and outputs. it is a chain-of-custody approach that tracks materials with sustainable benefits through complex value chains to measure the sustainable content of finished goods. this is a scientific method applicable to many industries and widely used.
